Danny's Thoughts 04/20/20
I hope “Danny’s Thoughts” finds everyone safe and sound during these very trying times. I encourage everyone to please take the necessary steps to keep themselves, their families and fellow employees healthy during this pandemic. Needless to say, the Covid-19 outbreak has dramatically changed our lives over the past few months with so many businesses and livelihoods coming to a screeching halt as a result of shelter-in-place policies. My prayers are with all those whose financial circumstances have been negatively impacted by all of this.
In spite of all the chaos, U.S. PLY has been very blessed. I am happy to inform you that U.S. PLY hasn’t skipped a beat, and we have continued normal production throughout the national shutdown. Because of CISA’s guidance letter on Essential Critical Infrastructure, US PLY, INC was deemed an “Essential Business” so we are here to help meet any commercial roofing material needs you may have.
As many of you know, school work is a large part of U.S. PLY’s business. With Texas Governor Greg Abbott announcing the closure of all Texas schools for the remainder of this school year, I anticipate an early start for our roofing contractors on dozens of large school projects throughout the state. I am gearing up production so we can start accommodating these orders in May, as opposed to the typical June/July timeframe. As always, I ask that you communicate with Christy O (firstname.lastname@example.org) at the U.S. PLY Inside Sales Desk if any projects get accelerated due to school closures. We want to make sure we do everything possible to help you in these changing times.
Also, I do not anticipate any interruption in our raw-material supply. All of our providers are reporting ample supplies of raw materials, and they don’t foresee any changes in the near future to the supply chain.
With all the craziness, it seems like the IRE in Dallas was forever ago…..but what a GREAT show! I had a blast seeing so many old friends and loyal customers at our U.S. PLY booth, and a big thanks to all those who attended the House of Blues Welcoming Party that we helped sponsor for Market Makers, Inc. The IRE was a very successful week for sure!
As always, U.S. PLY is dedicated to do whatever it takes to manufacture the best commercial roofing systems in the industry and to give our U.S. PLY applicators the best customer service possible. Thanks for all you do, and be safe.

MRCA Testing US Ply Material Comes Out On Top!
Last fall, the MRCA gave a presentation on their field study of in-service reflectivity of polymer modified bitumen membranes. In the May 2013 issue of Professional Roofing, that study is the featured article and the cover story of the publication. U.S. Ply’s DuraStar G4 TGW SBS is listed by name with 4 of the 28 roofs evaluated in the study. Each roof was measured with 30 random readings to score a low and high average. Our roof membrane scored extremely high in this evaluation conducted by Matthew Dupuis, P.E. (son of Rene Dupuis). While the article provides its own generic conclusions – I wanted to give you some texture to the values provided in this study.
In terms of range of reflective average, U.S. Ply’s DuraStar G4 TGW SBS had 3 of the best overall performance and 4 of the top 6! When all roofs are averaged U.S. Ply had the best “power ranking” in terms of reflective performance average for all roofs combined. While the study doesn’t make these bold conclusions, the averages are there in the table of the article. To help you see where we placed, I have provided the rankings below:
2013 Color Me Rad 5K
U.S. PLY and friends participated in the 2013 Color Me Rad 5K in Fort Worth on May 18th to benefit various charities. We want to thank everyone who participated in the walk and for donating to this great cause. Our staff had a great time and had a very color experience with everyone.
2013 IRE Trade Show
U.S. PLY would like to thank everyone personally for coming out to the 2013 IRE. The 2013 IRE trade show in San Antonio, Texas was a success. We met many of our clients and held a Grand Loyal Customer Appreciation Party at Luciano’s Italian Restaurant on the River Walk for our top customers. We ate and drank all through the night and was able to meet with our customers and gain a personal relationship with them as well as talk business. Everyone's booths were amazing at the show. The U. S. PLY staff had an amazing time. Thanks to everyone and our staff for making this show a success.
